We had an absolutely amazing weekend in London. Even though we were only in the city from Friday evening until Sunday night, it was totally worth the trip. Plus, it’s only a one-hour flight away!
We hit all the usual tourist spots—Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, St. James Park, and so much more. We also had a very fun and delicious dinner at Pergola on the Roof, which is basically the roof of a parking garage that’s been transformed into a beautiful garden oasis for the summer.
Of course, no trip to London is complete without tons of walking, riding the tube and double-decker buses, as well as plenty of pub stops. I really do love cities that have reliable public transportation. It makes exploring the city so much easier.
The best part about the entire trip is that we were joining my best friend, Jackie, and her family on the London leg of their three-week journey around Europe. Jackie and her husband knew we were coming, but the rest of her family didn’t! Of course, our flight was delayed about two hours and then our initially scheduled train from London Luton Airport to the city was cancelled, so we arrived in London much later than planned. Despite their flight from Iceland also being delayed about two hours, we actually all showed up at the apartment in London at the same time. It was the perfect surprise and a great way to start the trip.
